Scope
Tourism, Destination Marketing, Public Art AR, Festival

Overview

Two AR filters created for Northwest Territories Tourism as presenting sponsor of VMF Winter Arts 2023: Landscape Portals, which opens doorways into Northwest Territories scenery, and Aurora, which brings the northern lights into the viewer’s own camera.

Client / Partner

Northwest Territories Tourism, through Vancouver Mural Festival’s Winter Arts.

Challenge

Bring the landscapes and identity of the Northwest Territories to a Vancouver audience in a way that felt native to a public art festival: outdoors, mobile-first, and accessible to passersby with no app download friction.

Role

AR design and development for both filters, plus on-site deployment support during the festival. The same partnership included the AR augmentation of Ocean Hyland’s Wind and Water mural.

Creative / Technical Approach

Aurora and landscape imagery translated the territory’s natural draw into shareable, camera-ready experiences that worked on the street.

Result / Impact

A destination-marketing campaign delivered through public art: tourism storytelling that audiences engaged with on the sidewalk rather than in an ad slot.
